Day 2 - Thursday 3rd August

Airport Mania

Kids are on fire this morning!! They all woke up 10 minutes before they were due to be up. Record setting pace.

We all said goodbye to Mr Kelliher and thanked him for driving, dropping us off at the airport and most of all putting up with our awesome singing skills.

Once we got to the airport we thought we may have been delayed due to tightening up of security. We got through the checkin and when we came to security we were delayed due to a concern of someone not cleaning out there bags properly (country bumpkin Clay almost caused a Kefuffule). Once that was sorted we were well on our way out of Melbourne (but first we all spent 2 hours shopping and eating in the airport).

With half an hour to go we headed to the boarding gate and decided to play a couple of games of 'The floor is lava'. Ben and Clay really got amongst it and proved they were a force not to be reckoned with.

On the plane Tahlia realised her true calling and adopted parental duties of looking after a minor travalling to Alice Springs to visit her grandparents for 6 weeks. We all knew they got off to a cracking start because their conversations amused the majority of the rear of the plane.

Once landing in Alice Springs we soon all realised the vast difference in landscape compared to Gippsland. We picked up our hire cars (Patty the Pajero and Terry the Trailblazer) and headed to our accommodation. From there we quickly unpacked and headed out for some lunch before going to see and experience 'The School of the Air'.

This was an insightful look into what a day involves in outback educaion. We all learnt some vital lessons in the lengths children will go to gain an education in the outback, the committement parents have in providing and ensuring their children finish their education, Ben is an excellent dancer (dont quit your dayjob), and Tim was a great sidekick in showing off his flexibility in his moves.

We then headed out to Emily and Jessie's Gap. Clay, Tahlia, Tim, Steph scaled up the mountain side at Emily's Gap for some amazing views and pictures. We saw some beautiful caterpillar paintings and headed onto Jessie's Gap. Jessie's Gap showed some spectacular colours with the Evening sun setting we saw the scale of the boulders hanging above us in amazing fashion.

After a radical trip back into town with some awesome tunes pumping from Patty we headed into Woolies and started our food shopping. Ms Tantaro sent us all off with items to collect. Once again a certain someone with a keen eye spotted our final member of our group and then Pablo the Pumpkin was born. With all the amigos being competitive we again had another competition on our hands. Who could guess how much the shopping would come to? With a Mars Bar on the line it was on for young and old with even the checkout chick joining in on the fun. A certain someone won again...

We got back to the accommodation and unknowingly realised it was 7:30 we raced and cooked the most amazing tacos ever.

Being awake for 15 hours now we all need some beauty rest.

So for now we leave it with you, the reader, does Pablo like corn?
